Show JAPANESE HELD IN DETENTION STATION Seattle, Wash. August 23 Eighteen Eigh-teen Japanese women and eleven men are in the detention station of tho United States immigration service here awaiting deportation as a result of raids In the restricted districts of Seattle and Tacoma conducted by Inspector In-spector T. M. Fisher and deputies. The immigration ofllcers have been quietly gathering evidence against the Japanese Inmates of disorderly houses for weeks and hoped to be able to ensnare en-snare more of them. A large number became alarmed noon after Federal Judge C. H. Ilanford uphe'd the constitutionality con-stitutionality of the Immigration act passed by congress last March. The new act, which provides that all immoral aliens may be deported, no matter how long they have been in the country, has given tho Immigration Immi-gration ofllcers a long sought oppor-1 oppor-1 tunlty to rid the country of thousands of Japanese and other alien women and their consorts. |
