Show ICOMET WILL BE SEEN AT ITS BEST Eclipse of the Moon Will Make the Tail of the Comet Brilliant on the Darkened Background of the Heavens Eclipse Starts at 8:37 This Evening. Halley's comet will set tonight four hours and one minute after the sun. During much of that Interim the moon will he In eclipse and the comet nnd Its brilliant train will stand out In bold relief against the dark background back-ground of the heavens. The moon will enter the earth's shadow at 8:37 o'clock. The total eclipse will begin at 10 o'clock. Totality will end at 10:51 and the rim of tho moon, emerging emerg-ing from the shadow, will dim the brilliancy of I's new rival. At 11:13 the moon will have left the shadow and the comet will sink below the western horlron. By noting the position of the sun at " o'clock this afternoon It will be easy to locate the comet when It first becomes visible this evening. The comet is now following Its tall. It lies between the sun and the direction direc-tion of Its orbit and the sun's rays are sending the tall directly ahead of It. The streamer points towarl Jupiter. |
