Show THE ORPHEUM PLAYERS "Arizona" was the opening bill of-fered of-fered by the Otpheum stock company com-pany at the Orpheura theater last night. The popular frontier play made a good opening number m which a capable company wa3 given an opportunity to make their Initial bow to au Ogden audience. Noel Trovers made a pleasing Lieut, Denton, Verne Layton's Interpretation Interpreta-tion of Capt. Hodgman. the scheming cavalry captain, was a little overdone and at times too tragic. Elmer Booth as Henry Canby was good and rean his lines well. Stanley Joanassen as Col. Bonharo, while weak at first, Improved as the performance pr gressed. P Erlckson's portrayal of the role of Sergt. Kellar was good. An old stock company favorite, William S. Donovan, was seen in tho role of Tony Mustano. He gave a clever Interpretation of the role of the Mexican and rend his lines exceedingly exceed-ingly well. Selby Roach, as the army doctor, furnished a great amount of clever comedy. Miss Blanche Bryant as Bonita Canby was very good as was Miss Jrene Outtrlm, as Estella Bonham. Both read their lines well aud succeeded suc-ceeded In getting all there was out of their respective roles. The role of Lena Kellar. the waitress, wait-ress, was in the capable bands of Muriel Arndt. This was the best Interpretation In-terpretation In the ca6t. Florence Hamilton, a the wife of the rancher was pleasing The production was well staged under the manogement of W. S. Donovan. Don-ovan. The scenic effects were carried car-ried out in detail. The compnay throughout is a capable one and undoubtedly un-doubtedly will prove popular with the theater-going public of the city. "Arlr.ona" will run the remainder of the week with matinees on Wednesday Wednes-day and Saturday. K. T. S. |
