Show FOR A SANE FOURTH OF JULY At the meeting of the board of edu-carlon edu-carlon last Friday, upon the recommendation recom-mendation of Superintendent Mills. $150 was appropriated for the use of the Bchools In art work. It was stated stat-ed that the Child Culture club had donated $100 for that purpose and that an additional JIE0 would aid materially ma-terially In the direction of encouraging encourag-ing art studies. The funds will be equally distributed among the schools of the city. The plans for the proposed addition addi-tion to the Washington school were referred to the architect for brief re vision. The plans likely will be acted act-ed upon at the next meeting of the board, and the building work will be begun immediately. Tbe superintendent reported that a majority of the students of the schools of the cit yesterday voted for a "Sane Fourth of July" this year. The matter mat-ter was discussed before the various departments and nearly all the students stu-dents said they preferred the new plan of celebration. About seventy-five prospective graduates grad-uates of the normal department of the state university wore visitors at the Ogden schools yesterday. All thf city schools were visited and the young people also visited the state Deaf and Blind Echool, the State Industrial school and the Weber academy. A large number of Ogden teachers are visitors to Salt Lake today. |
