Show f TWO WELL-KNOWN SEAMEN DETACHED FROM SEA DUTY J (By Special Correspondent.) Lieutenant Commander Hourlgan at lojt and Captain W. H. H. Sutherland at right, snapped on tho battleship New Jersey, with which they have been identified so long. Washington, D. C, May 4. Two changes In the officers of the battleship battle-ship New Jersey took place yesterday when Capt. w. H. H. Sutherland and Lieut. Commander Hourlgan were detached de-tached from sea duty to take up important im-portant posts on land. Capt. W. -II. II. Sutherland, who commanded the battleship on tho cruise of Admiral Evans' fleet around the world, was ordered to report at Newport. R. I., whero ho will Join tho naval examining board. Ho has seen a wide variety of naval service and Is one of the most popular commanders command-ers under Knclc Snm's flag. Lieutenant Commander Hourlgan was ordered to report to Washington and has also been detached from duty on the New Jersey. His popularity with the crew was tangibly shown when he was leaving the boat. They cheered him as he left th ship until he was out of sight on shore. t |
