The woman appears to be about 32 years of age and from remarks she made, halls from San Francisco, where the says she lost her husband and two children in the earthquake which occurred oc-curred at that place. She is clearly suffering from some sort of dementia and was made as comfortable as possible pos-sible by the ofllcers at the station, efforts ef-forts being made to locate her friends. Considerable excitement was caused yesterday afternoon on the banks of Weber river at the foot of Twenty-fourth Twenty-fourth street, by a woman who gave the name of Jane Doe White. Passerby Pass-erby noticed a strange woman sitting . on the banks of the river. She was writing short notes on slips of paper, MPC-iiiK them fondly and then casting - Ihem into the water. Finally one who noticed her called up the police station sta-tion and Officer Chambers with the patrol pa-trol wagon was dispatched to the treno. hen the woman noticed tho wagon coming toward her she uttered a scream and without further hesitation hesita-tion hurled herself into the river. The stream at this point is extremely , swift and she was carried out to mld- ; stream in an instant, buffeted about by the waves and at times completely submerged. After being carried about a hundred vards down the river the woman began to near the other shore, where a number of the National guard boys were walking, upon their return from target practico in the sand hills.
