Show ACCIDENT ON CANVON LINE i REPAIR CAR CRASHES INTO HEAVILY HEAV-ILY LOADED CAR. Three Persons Suffer Minor Injurteo Affair Will Be Thoroughly Investigated. What might have been a serious collision occurred about 3:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon on tho canyon line of the Ogden Rapid Transit company com-pany at a point, between Washington avenue and Glenwood Park. A heavily loaded passenger car was returning from the Canyon resorts, followed closely by a lino car which had been out repairing some slight trolley trouble. The passenger car stopped to discharge passengers and the line car crashed into its rear. Luckily only a few casualties resulted, these being confined to minor Injuries to three persons. Bob Sutton, a lineman in the employ em-ploy of the Rapid Transit company, who was at the helm of the line car, suffered a broken nose and was bruised bruis-ed considerably. Orson Chappie, an employe of the Examiner Publishing company, was hanging on the rear of the passenger car and when tho crash occurred had all but gotten clear of his dangerous position. His foot was caught between be-tween the two cars and quito badly crushed. ' A lady who Is said to be from the east, but who would volunteer no Information In-formation concerning herself, and who refused to give her name, Is said to have suffered a slight injury to her shoulder, but it. did not amount to much, as she continued on her way east shortly after. rriie car carried a heavy burden of passengers and it is a thing to be wondered at that more were not injured. in-jured. No reason could be advanced for the collision as the track at this point is straight and the vision of the motorman on the lino car was not obstructed in the least. An investigation in-vestigation of the affair will be held by Superintendent Bailey and the guilty parties will bo held strictly to account. |
