Show IN COMMEMORATION I OF AUSTRIAN WAR Milan, Juno 6. The Duke of Genoa, admiral of the Italian fleet on a special spe-cial mission from the French army, took part today in the commemoration commemora-tion of the Franco-Italian war with Austria In 1859, whereby Milan and Lombardy were freed. Fifty thousand thous-and persons with flags and bands paraded the streets and laid wreaths on the Garibaldi monument and later gathered to hear the singing of national na-tional airs by a chorus of 700, in which the people joined. During the processon the association associa-tion of 3'oung socialists lowered their flag while passing the monument to Victor Emmanuel, intending this as a piotest against monarchy. Instantly the crowd which was watching the procession, set upon the socialists and tore their flag to pieces. Many of tho socialists were badly beaten. |
