Show WAYWARD YOUTH ESCAPES SEVERE PUNISHMENT Fred Irwin, the youth who was caught in the act of rifling the pockets of a supposed drunken man, Saturdav evening, escaped serious trouble th morning by pleading guilty to a charge of "disturbing the peace" and receiving receiv-ing a sentence of five das on tho rock pile, the courso and prosecuting attorney being unaware, apparently, of the fellow's acts which landed him in jail. The fact that Irwin did not succeed, in robbing his ipmsppctUe victim of anything prevented the police po-lice from preferring a graver chargo than that of disturbing the peace. Irwlu was arrested Saturday nisht by Officer Marlin. The latter had been informed bv Neils Larson that Irwin had been following him about for some time, evidently seeking an opportunity tr rob him. It was then arranged between the two to give the suspected one a chance to turn the -contemplated trick. Larsen feigned driinkonn-c i went staggering down tho street, followed fol-lowed by the officer at a safe distance Invin "took the scent" immediately and' upon Larsen's reaching a dark alley, where ho stopped and apparent-y apparent-y dozed olf to sleep.
