Show BUSINESS RUSHING - ATDEVIL'S SLIDE D. A. Smyth, proprietor of the European Euro-pean hotel, visited Dovll'a Slide yesterday yester-day to attend to business Interests he has there. 'Mr. Smyth states that things are looking well at the Slide. "It is a little cold there," he said, "and there are about six inches of snow on the ground, which affords reasonably good sleighing, but the weather Is not bad." He also stated that there is a rush of things there on the part of tho Portland Port-land Cement compan In getting ready for the business of the year. He said that orders for cement were coming In so rapidly that it became necessary for the company to enlarge Its plant and that nearly the entire force of men ordinarily employed at the plant had been kept at work for some time to make the necessary Improvements and repairs, but that the work Is now nearly completed. "The plant," he said, "will again commence operations between this time and March 1. with a working force of 200 men. the prospects for the year being more flattering than in many years prior to this time." |
