Show AUTOS SAVED IN GARAGE BLAZE Shop of D. H. Heiner Burned at Morgan ; Loss Placed at $4000 MORGAN, April 22. Fire of un-known un-known origin, completely destroyed tho two story garage of D. H. Heiner here this morning and a for a short period pe-riod threatened the entire business district. dis-trict. Several barrels of oil contained 1 in the garage caught fire and shot the flames high Into the air and adjoining buildings were probably only saved through the heavy snow which covered cover-ed the garage roof and curbed the blaze as the roof collapsed. Sixteen automobiles were pushed from the blazing building by resdents and saved from damage. I The blaze broke out n the second i .story wheh has not recently been used and within a half hour the building I jwas completely gutted. Business in the I town was at a standstill during tho fire and although hundreds of persons arrived ar-rived within a few minutes no attempt I was made to save the structure ! through tho lack of fire-fighting appa-jratus. appa-jratus. Tho residents worked feverishly to get the machines out before the blaze broke through the flooring above and reached them. Mr. Heiner declared that the loss resulting re-sulting from tho blaze would reach $4000 and no insurance was carried on I the structure. He said he would at once prepare to build a large concrete garage on the site, which is in the Imain business district. nft |
