Show Ogden Woman Elected ' Marshal of Rebekas! Mrs. fisther Randall of Ogden was elected marshal! of the Rebecca assembly as-sembly at the closing session of the annual convention of the Independent Indepen-dent Order of Odd Fellows at which the election of officers took place.! The session yesterday marked the closing of the three-day convention which was one of the most successful ever held. The graniU!lodgv-J- IT. -Hornung.. presiding, has been in session for two days. The first day was taken up with routine business and committee work and yesterday the following were installed: in-stalled: Dr. Harry Phillips, grand master; Charles A. Stain, grand secretary; Edward Krehblel, grand treasurer) and E. H. Smith, crand representative all of Salt Lake; Harvey Cluff of Pro-! vo, deputy grand master, and S. M. Curry of Vernal, grand warden. R. B. Quay was appointed gralid chaplain. At yesterday's session A. F. Isham of Caldwell. Idaho, grand priest and assistant surgeon general to tho order ord-er of Patriarchs Militant, spoke of the prosperous condition of the I. O. O. F. in his state, declaring that fully j 600 new members had joined the ord-j er In the last year. He also referred to the Odd Fellows' homo to be erected erect-ed in Caldwell at a cost of 70,000. Mr. Isham told of the urgent necessity for such a home for the widows, orphans and aged and disabled members of the order in the state of Utah, and pointed out that there are now their-ty-seven of these homes in the United Sta.tes, same states having more than one. Pennsylvania, hesald, had three. Thomas E. Buckner, grand master of Idaho, also talked in favor of an Odd Fellows home for Utah, and a committee was appointed to consider ways and means of raising money for the project, the committee to report at the next annual meeting which will be hoM A: ril 19 next year. Officers appointed for a term of one year were- Mrs. Esther Randall of Ogden. marshal; Mrs. Mary Davis of Bingham, conductor; Mrs. Delia Edwards Ed-wards of Ophlr, inside guard; Mrs. Susan Glenn of Milford. outside guard; Mrs Christina Norberg of 1 MIdvale, Chaplin, and Mrs. Mary E. Sudheimer of Salt Lake, representative representa-tive of the sovereign grand lodge Members from out of town are: Mrs. Bertha Bowlby, president, from Wendall. Idaho; Mrs Lillian Lanktree, past president, from Emmett, Idaho, and Mrs. Lydia Rosegrant of the Good Will lodge, Washington. Last evening the Naomi lodge No. 1 and the Miriam lodge No. 5 entertained entertain-ed delegates and visitors. Illustrative degree work was presented under the direction of degree captain, Mrs. Z. C. Hanson, and later refreshments were served and a social time enjoyed. |
