Show 'U.S. Asked to Put Ban On Lockouts, Strikes ST. LOUIS. April 21. Resolutions demanding that congress enact laws prohibiting lockouts and strikes in all public utilities and essential industries were adopted at the closing sessicn of thb convention of the Mississippi Valley Val-ley association here today. Harry H. Merrick of Chicago was reelect re-elect eel president and N.ew Orleans was chosen for next year's convention. Recommendations of tho Mississippi Mississip-pi Valley Waterways association that the two organizations merge were adopted and a waterways division of the valley association was formed with James E. Smith of ihis city, vice president, presi-dent, in charge of it. Mr. Smith was president of the waterways association which ceased to function as a distinct organization by today's action. The resolutions adopted demand that stale and national arbitration I hoards be appointed to handle industrial indus-trial trouble and asserted that the "rights of all the people arc superior to any class, rrgnnized or unorganized, unorgan-ized, whether employer or employe." |
