Show COPS BEAT TRAIN AND NAB YOUTH Ogden Police in Regular Movie , Thrill to Capture Escaped Inmate 'Movie" plots were put to shame by the arrest made by Chauffer Ed Butierfleld and Detective Everett Nnbln when, by overtaking s train which had departed with 10 minutes' sturt on them, they apprehended Frank Ruckman, 16 years old, who with eight other boys of the State Industrial In-dustrial school, made their escape last night. Five of the nine were captured. The boys escaped from the school at an early hour this morning About two hours after their escape, the police po-lice were notified and set out in search of the lads Detective Noblo went to the yards in company with Chauffeur Butterfleld and learned that a freight train had departed for the east 10 minutes before Some one stated that they had seen a bey on the train as It pulled out of the yards. Swinging their car about, the officers offi-cers started for Uintah Along Washington Wash-ington avenue, past the Country club grounds .and over tho winding road to Uintah, they drove at a break-neck pace. Upon reaching the point of the road where it overlooks Uintah they saw the freight train approaching approach-ing a! out a mile down the track. They abandoned the automobile and made the descent over the dugway. As they climbed down the steep bluff, they saw a boy In a gondola car. Detective Detec-tive Noblo caught the freight train, climbed into the car and compelled the lad to accompany him to the automobile. At the police station Ruckman said he had experienced all the 'school" that ho could stand and had decided to break loose and go to his homo in Texas Four other boys who escaped were captured by guards in the vicinity of Sunset, the police stated Four others are still at large. Ruckman was turned over to the industrial school authorities this morning. rtf |
