Show oo HEARTY CHEERS AS ! BDYS LEAVE LDGftWj LOGAN. Dec. 21 With deafening college yells, and enthusiastic college songs, tho six hundred forty-three men of the S. A. T. C. of the Utah Agrl-1 cultural college last night at a final i entcrtalnrnont given in their honor expressed ex-pressed their appreciation of the ex- ccllent care tho institution has taken! of them and demonstrated that, even though members of a strictly military organization, tho college has filled them with a true college loyalty. Tho men were the guests of the institution in-stitution last night, at their final en-tralnment, en-tralnment, held just before the completion com-pletion of demobilization. On behalf of the Commercial Boosters club of Logan, President W. W. Owen told the men how honored the citizens felt themselves in having the S. A. T. C. in tholr midst. President E. G. Peterson Pe-terson of the college declared that the Institution had never had a cleaner, more worth while student body than tho men of tho S' A. T. C Tho Booster's club quartet and the l A. C. ladies quartet sang for the men. .Refreshments wore served by the women of tho faculty. The entertainment came as the last of a series provided by various agencies. agen-cies. Wednesday afternopn, the Commercial Com-mercial Boosters' club of Logan chartered char-tered a local show house and onter- j talnod the men with an aftornoon ofj movies. The Y. M. C. A., under the1 direction of the Rovorcnd M. PJlls-bury, PJlls-bury, gave the men three moving picture pic-ture shows, a cider and doughnut bust, an evening of sports, and provided several lectures for them, in addition to holding thirteen religious meet-1 ings. Tho Y. M. C. A. also provided j the men with writing materials, ap-1 proximately 300,000 sheets of writing j paper being distributed. Six hundred ( and sixty New Testament texts were distributed through tho same agency. Tho Red Cross, acting through Captain Cap-tain W. C Brimley, assistant field director, di-rector, distributed to the men 600 comfort kits, 750 sweaters, 1500 bath towels, and 2250 pairs of sock3. Cooperating Co-operating with the Relief societies of Logan and Cache county, the Red Cross was able to furnish tho mon with frosh fruiL Pillows and extra quilta and comorts woro supplied by tho same agencies to every man who was 111. . |
