Show BRIGHAM CITY NOTES BRIGHAM CITY. April 21 Liberty Day will be observed in Brigham City ion Friday. Mayor John W Peters has proclaimed a holiday, beginning at 1 p. m. The mayor asks that al) citizens citi-zens get out and work for the Liberty Lib-erty loan. Liberty loan sales are still being made in various parts of Box Elder county, despite the fact that Box Elder county went "over the topn a few days ago. This county's allottment of j $175,000 had been either subscribed or I pledged as early as last Monday. It Is not unlikely that the county will reach $200,000. The town of Connne jumped into the lead of small communities of the county this week when more than . $2,000 worth of Thrift Stamps were sold in a single day. Box Elder county is rated third in the state in the purchase pur-chase of Thrift Stamps. At the end of the first quarter Box Elder stood $2.18 per capita. Box Elder county's drafted men, who are to leave for American Lake Saturday evening, have been notified to appear at the county clerk's office Saturday afternoon at 5 p. m., to receive re-ceive final instructions. They leave Brigham a few hours later. A reception re-ception has been planned for them in the court room by court house officials offi-cials and friends. The war gardens' committee for the present year is fully organized for action ac-tion on the many vacant lota of the city. The committee is composed of Bevard Nichols, instructor in agriculture agricul-ture at the high school; James Jen- sen, representing thr Box Elder Commercial Com-mercial club; J. Francis Merrell, representing rep-resenting the Y. M. M. I. A.; John W. Phillips, representing thr city council, and J. C. Jensen, a real estate dealer It a planned to organize thr-boys thr-boys and allot the vacant lots to them for tho planting of war crops during the suramrr. Thp Red Cross drive is on in earnest, earn-est, and splendid results have mark--il the efforts of the women of the city.
