The British have lost nearly one thousand guns, .between four and five thousand machine ma-chine guns and the total manufacture of ammunition of between one and three weeks since the present battle in France began, Winston Spencer Churchill, minister of munitions, told j the house of commons today. All j these losses have been made good. The munitions ministry, said Mr. Churchill, placed at the disposal of air and ground services more than twice the number of guns lost or destroyed in the battle in France. There are now, he added, actually more service- 1 able guns as a whole and more of virtually vir-tually every caliber than there were j when the battle began. |
