They left homo and kindred with their alluring al-luring ties, and thrust aside lucrative occupations, and they ask no reward save that which comes from an imperative im-perative patriotic duty well done. God grant that they may safely return to us crowned with the laurels of victory, and bearing our flag that was never lowered In defeat nor trailed its glorious glor-ious folds in dishonor. But. let us pray God, we may live for our eyes to behold tho reign of peaco and fraternal brotherhood among all nations, that the slaughter of human beings shall ceaso and here-nfter here-nfter be impossible, and the future so firmly guaranteed that this condition shall endure whilo the world exists aye, until the stars shall fade from the drapery of tho night.
