While indications indica-tions tonight were that professional baseball will be suspended by major league magnates at meetings to be held this week, as a result of Secretary Secre-tary of War Baker's decision to class baseball as nonessential under the "work or fight" regulations, orders we're issued to continue play until further fur-ther notice. The American association closed its season today and awarded the pennant to Kansas City. American league owners, the majority ma-jority of whom are said to favor closing clos-ing their parks at once, will meet tomorrow to-morrow at Cleveland. National league officials, many of whom are said to favor continuing with their schedule, will meet In Pittsburg Pitts-burg Tuesday. August Herrmann, president of the Cincinnati club and chairman of the national baseball commission, com-mission, told President Johnson on the long-distance telephone today that it was iirmn?KihIf for him tn renp.h Pres ident Toner of the National league, but that the emergency was so great that he had called tho meeting and the club owners had agreed. A pre-1 vlous meeting called by President Toner was set for New York on Wednesday. Wed-nesday. President Johnson late today telegraphed tele-graphed all American league clubs to continue play until officially notified to quit. The Cleveland team, however, how-ever, disbanded tonight on orders from James Dunn, president of the club. President Johnson said that tho telegram tele-gram was sent to give the players some notice, but he was confident the order to stop play until further notice will be sent out from Cleveland before tomorrow night. He loft tonight for Cleveland. National Games Postponed CINCINNATI, July 21. August Herrmann said tonight that the games scheduled for tomorrow had' not been canceled, but postponed.
