Show oo "NO IRISH." (Contributed.) Col. Joseph C. Bunnor of Toledo, O., a member of the New York City committee com-mittee on National Defense, has discovered dis-covered a new name for conscription dodgers. It Isn't a pretty name, but there is eminent authority for it, as it is defined by the Standard dictionary as meaning "a contemptible fellow." His poem is not exactly olegant, but the last lino redeems it. This is the tale of the mob I saw, Trying to beat the conscription law, Pukes in front of you; pukes behind, Pukes of every conceivable kind, Massed on tho steps of tho city hall, Pukes that were short, pukes that were tall, Puke that wero fat, pukes that were thin, Prominent nose and receding chin, Socialists, Anarchists, slacker and the sneak, Faces impertinent, brazen and weak, Pukes of air stations, poor ones and rich, Pukes' that wore dirty and pukes with the itch, Eager to marry and hide behind, Any old skirt of any old kind. Crowding and pushing till ready to drop, Jfot an Irishman present, excepting the cop. |
