Show HATCH WHITE " ANDJILBERT Since Fighters' Met in Salt Lake Fans Have Wanted to See Them Again Ogden After Winner. SALT LAKE, Sept. 28 Ever since Eddie White and Young Gilbert met at the Grand a little over a month ago the fans have been clamoring to see them rematched, and Manager Hardy Downing has decided to grant them their wish. The boys have signed articles ar-ticles to meet in the main event of next Monday night's show. When these boys met at the opening open-ing show of the Manhattan club the fans wore greeted to one of the most sensational bouts that had ever been seon at the Manhattan club. As the boys stepped, to the center of the ring in that bout Gilbert pulled a snoak on White's chin Chat put him to the mat, for what most of the fans thought was for keeps, but the coast boy weathered tho storm by sheer gamenoss and ring generalship and to the surprise of almost al-most everyone in the houso, battled the local champion so hard from there on that Roforce Downing could do nothing but call it a draw. Gilbert was taken to task by the crowd for what they considered a foul punch, but which in reality was perfectly per-fectly legitimate and although Manager Manag-er Downing explained to the fans that the boys had been instructed to come out of their corners fighting they refused re-fused to bo pacified and howled long and loud for the coast boy to win. Gilbert demonstrated Wednesday night at Ogden that he is the master of Al Young when he stopped him in tho fifteenth round of their scheduled twenty round bouL The decisive ending end-ing of that match removes any doubt as to Gilbert's claim to the lightweight championship of the Intormountaln country. White of course has no claim to the title, but from his showing against Gil-'bort Gil-'bort in his first time out here he surely sure-ly has an excellent chanco to cop the crown. Denver and Ogden promoters are both after the winner of this match to meet some high class boy over the fifteen or twentj' round route and as a result the boys are more anxious than ever to win. oo |
