Show ! ATTORNEY Ml SAVES A CLIENT Attorney Stewart M. Kohn, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. L, Kohnpf Ogden, came prominently into the limelight of the New York courts a few days ago by taking up an apparently lost cause and saving an alleged murderer, mur-derer, temporarily at least, from the electric chair. The man, Charles Stie-low Stie-low had been convicted and - condemned con-demned to die at 6:45 a. ra. on July 29, and Attorney Kohn, who took up his case two days before at the request re-quest of relatives, after it has been given up the attorneys who had lost It in the courts, secured a stay of execution at 4:30 a. m. on the same day. The stay was procured from Supreme Su-preme Court Justice Guy of New York, on the presentation of evidence in support of an appeal for a new trial, and was telephoned by the Justice from his New York City residence resi-dence to the prison at Osslnnlng, N. Y., where the condemned man was awaiting the call to the electric chair. nn |
