He declared that the public schools of Ogden under his direction, with the assistance of Supt. Mills, were about the best schools this side of Chicago. , Here Is a story which came to us today which is apropos. When a certain cer-tain family moved to Salt Lake, like a dutiful father, the head of the fam ily, sent his children to school. His youngsters are bright and they had recoived the very best of home training, train-ing, but when they applied for admittance admit-tance to the same grades in Salt Lake to which they were advanced In Ogden, Og-den, their teachers found them deficient defi-cient and required extra work. A few years ago, the Ogden schools compared favorably with the best public schools in the United States. Today they are recognized as in need of a radical change. Will Mr. Pingree explain why this is so? |
