FOR BASKETBALL CONTEST A debate was held yesterday at the Weber academy between LeRoy Leishman and Cora Kasiu?. representing represent-ing the senior class and Ernest Wilkinson Wil-kinson and Cedenla Bingham, representing repre-senting the sophomore class. The seniors took the affirmative affirm-ative side of the question and the sophomores the negative The speeches speech-es were ably given by all four speakers, speak-ers, the material used showing a deep study of the question This morning a basketball rally was held at the Bchool to prepare for the excursion to Brlgham City tomorrow-night, tomorrow-night, at which time the Weber academy acad-emy and Box Elder high school basketball bas-ketball teams will engage In a contest on the latter's floor. This game has been anticipated by the students of both schools with as much intereet as was the one in which the same teams participated at the local academy acad-emy a couple of weeks ago. The purple pur-ple and white players feel confident that the large floor of the Box Elder high Bchool will give them a better chance to win from their taller and heavier opponents, than did their small home floor In the previous game. The team will be somewhat handicapped handi-capped by the Iobb of Herbert, one of the regular guards Wilkinson will be changed to this position and Critch-low Critch-low will be 6tarted in his position at left forward. Coach Roskelly of Box Elder expects to play his regular lineup. Arrangements have been made for an excursion rate and special cars via the Ogden. Logan & Idaho railroad, rail-road, leaving Washington avenue and Twenty-fourth street at 6 p. ra. Indications Indi-cations at the academy today were that nearly every member of the student stu-dent body would make the trip and a number of other local fans have signified sig-nified their Intention of seeing thp game. |
