Show DEE SCHOOL PLACES NEW BOOKS ON ITS SHELVES By means of money raised through entertainments, the Dee Junior high has Just placed on its shelves a new consignment of reference books, for the use of the pupils of the school The list is as follows. Spring Flora of the Intermountaln States. 1 vol.; Thwaites, The Colonies, 3 vols.; Hart, Formation of the LTnion, 3 vols.. Wilson, Division and Reunion 3 vols., six sets Elson, Sidelights on American Ameri-can History. 11 vols.; Elson, History of United States, 3 vols ; Fisher, Colonial Co-lonial Era. 1 vol.; Wacker, Making of a Nation, 2 vols.; Burgess, The Middle Period, J vols., 2 sets Burgess, Civil War and the Constitution. 4 vols ; Burgess, Reconstruction and the Con stitutlon, 2 vols., Fulton and True-blood, True-blood, Standard Selections, 1 vol.; Fulton and Trueblood, Choice Readings Read-ings from Popular Authors, 1 vol.; Gardiner, History' of England, 1 vol . This collection of sixty books forms the nucleus of a much-needed refer ence library Prior to the procuring of these volumes, there have been practically no books for student ref erence in the Dee school Such a condition pro es a serious handicap under an) circumstance. It is douhly true now, that the three-year plan has been put into operation, for the more advanced work of the ninth year demands de-mands Increased facilities for work along definite lines. Constant use Is made of the Carnegie library but school work necessitates the opportunity opportu-nity of investigation bevond the very limited area of school text books, and that in estigation be made during the school hours, when it Is impos- cihlr. fn fn In t lit. cltv lihrarv In order, then, to reach and maintain main-tain the efficiency demanded of a high school, it becomes imperative that a reference library be placed In the Junior high. The most noticeable feature about the start toward this end in the Dee is that the above mentioned books were purchased from funds raised by the Dee pupils in school entertainments entertain-ments That fact tends to make the books of an increased value to the Dec school. |
