Show INDUSTRIAL SCHOOL, BOY HAS BEEN CAPTURED ' Officers of the state Industrial school returned to Ogden last evening with Weir Reid, an escaped inmate f , e school who was arrested at Garfield by Salt Lako county officers of-ficers and tho boy will be turned over to the courts for prosecution for stealing a horse and buggy belonging be-longing to Lawrence Brown of Pleasant Pleas-ant View. Tho young man Is 20 years old and it is tho opinion of tho officers of-ficers and tho superintendent of the Industrial sqhool, that he should be punished for grand larceny. A week ago last Sunday Reid and a boy named Wiggins escaped from the school. On the same night two girls, Florence Lowe and Blancho love, also escaped, the Wiggins hoy voluntarily returning to the school a few nights after. Last Sunday night Cragun Brothers' store of Pleasant View was burglarized and a horse and buggy of Lawrence Brown was stolen from tho church premises a short distance from the store, since which time officers have been seeking clues as to who committed com-mitted tho burglary, and the Industrial Indus-trial school officers have been looking look-ing for Reid and tho two girls. It has been the opinion of the officers of-ficers that the escaped Inmates of. the school stole the horse and buggy and also burglarized tho store. Their suspicions have been strengthened by tho fact that Reid had a horse and huggy in his possession when he was arrested at Garfield. It is said that the description of the outfit is much tbesame as that of the horse aud buggy belonging to Brown of Pleasant Pleas-ant View. I Chief Deputy Sheriff J. L. Hebson stated this afternon that Weir Reid. the industrial school boy who escaped from the school about ten days ago, has confessed to burglarizing the Cragun Bribers' store at Pleasant Viow and also to tho theft of Lawrence Law-rence Brown's horse and buggy last Sunday night. He also states that the girls who escaped at the same time, Floronce Lowe and Blanch Love, were associated with him in the depredations. |
