Show smallTomIT of contagious cases Seven cases of contagious diseases, a remarkably low total, were placed under quarantine in the city during the month of Auguat, according to tho report compiled this morning by City Health Inspector George Shorten. They were divided, as follows: Ono smallpox, 1 diphtheria, 1 measles, mea-sles, 1 chlckenpox, 1 typhoid fever and 2 whooping cough. Tho births reported numbered 57, 32 males and 25 females, against 31 deaths, 16 males and 35 females. In the sanitary division of tho department. de-partment. 226 inspections were made by the inspector and his deputies. Seven loads of garbage, 36 dogB and G horses were destroyed at tho city crematory and 17 loads of rubbish were disposed of at the city dump. In speaking of the conditions of health and sanitation in tho city, Inspector In-spector Shorten stated that they were better than they had been in a number num-ber of years. oo |
