Show ML ISSUE STATEMENT Dixon io Define Position of the Progressive Party, New York, July 6 Ij: was announced an-nounced at Roosevelt headquartors here today that Senator Dixon would Issue u statement which would contain con-tain "a fulL declaration" of the position posi-tion of the progressive party on the political Iesucs of the day and a report re-port of progress made in the party's organization. The statement will bo preliminary, it was indicated, to the formal call for tho progressive convention whlch will be Issued Monday, The call, according- to Charles H. Thompson of Vermont, one of tho Roosevelt leaders, lead-ers, -will "att,xnpt to Justify the movement move-ment for tho third party," with a review re-view of "tho theft" at Chicago. Ho added that a resume of the contests In Colorado, Washington, Texas, Oregon Ore-gon and one district in Tennessee is being prernred as the basiB for a later statomenL Today's statement, it Is Indicated, will contain a list of all the States where Roosevelt supporters have agreed by telegraph to sign tho call. Theso states, Mr. Thompson said, now total 35 and with two exceptions include in-clude "all the progressive states.1' The exceptions are Maine and. Nebraska, which, "on account of state contests," will not sign Mr. Thompson said Senator Dixon received a long telegram from Governor Gov-ernor Osborn Ot Michigan, explaining explain-ing his position regarding the third party movement, but he would not make the mossnge public.
