Show WHEN TO PLANT HOSES. All dormant, roses should be planted as soon as the .frost is out of the ground, and the soil can be worked. But it is advisable not to set out tea-roses until the weather is thoroughly thor-oughly settled and they should, of course, only be planted ln spring. Fall plantjng may be done ln the latter lat-ter part of October or early ln November, No-vember, or even as late as tho middle of December, with excellent results. Roses planted In the fall, however, should be set deep, and banked woll with earth just before the ground freezes. It la also well to cover tho soil about the plants with manure, nhich should not be removed until all danger from a severe frost is oer, whereupon this dressing may be forked under. |
