Show ENGLISH GIRL ENTERED IN OLYMPIC GAMES London July 4. Englishwomen an expecting Miss Helen Preece, a 15-year-old horsewoman, to accomplish great things at the Olympic games at Stockholm. Miss Preece, who will be England's onljr female representative at the games, has won fame here as an ox-pert ox-pert horsewoman and athlete generally, gener-ally, and her abilities are not unknown un-known in the United States. At New York, in November last, at the Madison Madi-son Square National Horse Show Miss Preece won outright the thousand-dollar thousand-dollar gold cup, open to tho world for riding, in addition to many other "blues." She rode for several well known people there, including David Grey, celebrated jumper, owned by J. Wltherby, and G. Cblpchase's Sa-polla. Sa-polla. She is a great swimmer and fencer and can hold her own with tho best in a cross-country run over tho most difficult eourBe. At the International Horse Show at Olympia, last year, sho secured two JflrBt prizes, and at tho Hunter and Polo Pony Show, at Islington, Bhc gained three firsts. She twice was complimented on her splendid riding by Queen Alexandra personally. Although of a modest disposition, Miss Preece "confessed to a correspondent corres-pondent of the New York American at the Ranelagh Polo club, London, that she hoped to do something big at Stockholm. |
