Show SALT LAKE IS GIVEN AF0L DRUBBING Salt Lake, Sept 3. Ogden copped both games of the doublo-header from Salt Lake yesterday, taking tho series after the best period of baseball seen on the home grounds this season. Tho core in the flm game was 11 to G and in the second 15 to 5. The first was a fairly good game. "Annie" was opposed by Leo Dres-san Dres-san and "Cy" Morgan. What happened hap-pened to those two boys was worse than the Erickson catastrophe. For some time Leo seemed to be quite effective ef-fective and on soveral occasions ho actually succeeded In fooling Ogden batters. He lacked something, however, how-ever, and at the beginning of tho sixth period he got scared and sousht cover, Morgan took the mound and in the last four Innings was banged for a total of nine hits and three runs. There was nothing to it. Wessler. Spencer. Whalcn and Erickson aroused quite a rivalry among themselves them-selves to see .which could get tho greater number of hits. Spencer got a hit every time up, while Erickson got four hits out of five times up. Spencer and Wessler each connected with a home run. The first run was made by Salt Lake In the first inning. Spencer singled. sin-gled. Forticr lifted a high one to center field. Murray lost It in the sun and It hit the top of his head wHh such force that the crack could bo heard plainly in the grand stand. In the meantime Spencer took third and Fortlor second. Spencer, was trapped off third, buf "Fortler took third on a wild pitch. Devereaux scored Fortler with a hot double to tho left field fence. Three In Third. In the third Ogden became gijeedv and ran In three runs. Perkins lifted a fly to Fortier and took first when the latter droppod it. Murray grounded ground-ed to Pendleton and forced PerkinB at second. Wood hit to Davis and when the latter's attempt to catch Murray at second failed, Wood was safe on firsL Whalen smashed a hot Elngln to left, scoring Murray and taking second on the throw to the plate. Wood and Whalen both romped in on a doublo by Spencer. Spencer stole third, hut both he and Van fell victims vic-tims of a double play made on Van's pop-up to Pendleton. Threo by the Skyscrapers In their half of tho third gave them back a one-run lead Fortier was angrv at tho umpire for having called a" hot ono down the third baso lino, a foul and for fining him $5 for objecting, so when Erickson gave him a swift ona over the outBide of the plate Forticr banged it over tho right field f-ence for a home run. Bauer popped ono to Whalen and "Brick" hit the loft field fence for two sacks. Davis followed with a two-bagger to center and Devereaux Kcored. Pendleton singled to right. Abbott raised one to Murray and Dressan. who was running for Davis, scored. In the fourth Ogden evened things when Erickson hit for two bags and .cored on a. single by Porkin6. Once More Ahead. Agaiu Salt I ake forged ahead lu the last of the fourth, when two runs went over. Dressan hit to Whalcn and took first on tho latter's wild throw to Van. Spencer beat out a bunt, and while Ogden was wntching Spencer. Dressan took third. Fortler struck out, but Porkins lost the Inst strike, and while he was touching Fortler out Spencer went to second. Bauor grounded out, Wood to Van, Dressan scoring and Spencer taking third. "Brick" came to bat, and while ho was taking a strike Heine Sponcer stole homo for the second time of the series. The two-run lead was turned to nothing when McCloskey took three in the fifth. Wood walked, stole bec-ond bec-ond and third and scored on Spencer's doublo Wessler put it over the left field fence nnd scored Spencer ahead of him. In the seventh Spencer knocked the ball over the fence for another run. Erickson singled in tho eighth and scored on hits by Porkins aud "Wood. Another run was brought in when Whnlen's single scored Perkins. The last run was scored by Schimpff in the ninth. He doubled, took third on a balk and scored on Perkins' single. sin-gle. Second Game One-Sided. In the second game Morgan started to work, but in the first Inning he was touched tor six hits and as many runs. Willi two out. Captain Abboit took the box himself and for a while managed quite well. He could not hold up, however, and Ames relieved him. Ames was no better than Iho others and the game turned into a joke. Jako Bauer pulled off the best catch seen on the home grounds this year. He was in right when a hard, low fiy was knocked to center. Spencer and Bauer both went after it and Bauer grabbed it off his shoe tops with his bare hand while going at top speeed. FIRST' GAME. OGDEN. AB.R.BH.PO.A.E. Whalen, 3b 0 I 3 2 0 1 B.
