Show FOREST IN ORCHARD BELT After a brief automobile trip through the orchard districts north of the city, Chief Forester Henry S. Graves was tho guest of members of tho Weber Web-er club at noon today at a luncheon at the club rooms. Those accompanying Mr. Graves to the orchard lands were Secretary I. L Reynolds of the Weber club, City Recorder Carl Aljison, Cashier of the First National bani; John Pingree. and Acting District Forer.ter O M. Butler, But-ler, who took it upon themselves to show the Washington forester some of the best cultivated orchards of the county. After making the trip, Mr Graves stated that he was ,pleased with what he had seen and was greatly surprised, at tho well cultivated area. He stated stat-ed that, as a matter of fact, the trip was a revelation to him and that he had enjoyed It more than any other side trip of his visit west. He is a profound student of silviculture silvi-culture and forestry and is always Intensely In-tensely interested In the culture of trees of any description Ho said that the North Ogden orchards orch-ards visited today were in tho best state of preservation and growth of any orchards he had ever spen Mr. Graves had previously visited tho canyon and when asked where he would like to go for a ride this morning, morn-ing, he readily suggested that a trip through the orchards would please him better than any other. He is enthusiastic enthu-siastic oer tho beauties of Jfic canyon can-yon and recommends that tbe people sparo no means to make its beauties known to the world. rtr |
