Show WEIGHTS AND MEASURES FDR UTAH Wlllard Hansen, state dairy and food commissioner, returned last night after an ahsence of a month, v.'hlch timo ho spent In somo of the principal cities of the east During his absence he purchased ibout $1,000 worth of weights and measures which will bo forwarded as soon as they can be tested and verified by tho bureau of weights and measures at Washington, D C. v Mr. Hansen attended tho food convention con-vention at Duluth, Minn , which closed August 25. and then went to Chicago, where h spent several days with the food inspectors In their regular work. He then went to New York and othoi cities, where he studied the methods in use and leclved some new Ideas in regard to tho work that he hopes to do In Washington no received some valuable Information regarding tho testing and standardization of scales and balances. Ho says the nlted States government haa the best apparatus for testing and standardizing standardiz-ing weights and measures In the world. After he was satisfied as to just what he needed and the best manner of getting this, Mr. Hansen went to Troy, N. Y , and ma le tho purchases of instruments himself. The articles purchased will be sent to Washington and if they do not meet the bureau's requirements they will bo sent back to the factory.
