Democrats and Republicans alike cheered Mr. Dyes' declaration that "he neither feared the power nor re- ' spected tho judgment of tho Nebras- , kan,'' and his further announcement that Democracy, under the leadership leader-ship of Champ Clark and Oscar W. Underwood, was headed toward com plete success, swept tho Democratic side of the houso rnto storms of applause. ap-plause. "I am almost ready to join Governor Wilson in his desire to find some descent and orderly manner of 'knocking 'knock-ing Mr. Bryan into a cocked hat,' " said Mr. Dyes amidst a roar of Democratic Dem-ocratic laughter and applause Mr. Dyes' attack on Mr. Bryan followed fol-lowed the lattor's declaration In the last issuo of his newspaper that tho thirteen Democrats who voted against a recent amendment in the houso to require publicity of all recommendations recommenda-tions to the President on judgeship appointments "wero not worthy to represent a Democratic constituency." Mr. Dyes declared that if Mr Bry- an had spent as much time "reading law as he had attacking Democrats In public life, ho would have known that the proposed law would he unconstitutional un-constitutional and an infringement of tho President's rights.
