Dick Cooloy, owner of the local club, is now in Lo,s Angeles making arrangements for the series which will be played with the Los Angeles and Vernon clubs of tho Pacific Pa-cific Coast league. Because of tho excellent weather on tho coast tho Los Angeles and Vernon clubs have arranged an ante-season ante-season series of games to be playod In Is Angeles, and Hogan and Berry owners of tho coast teams, are anxious anx-ious to have Cooley bring his men out there for a series of fio games with each of the two teams there. The Coast leaguers figure that Cooloy is going to have tho strongest team In the Union nsociation next 'season and for that reason believe that the Skyscrapers would be a good drawing card at Los Angeles According Accord-ing to telegraphic advices received from Cooloy last night, he is ready to sign up for the inter-league games Just as soon as the Los Angeles and Vernon people show him whero it is going to bo a paying proposition. Cooloy has about thirty-five baseball base-ball players under contract at the present tlmo and he will have his men report hero next month. The squad probably will bo divided Into threo and possibly four teams and games will ho played every morning and afternoon at Cooley park. Tn this way Cooley will be able to get a correct cor-rect line on his material. Ho will then pick out the men who will remain on the team and this squad will be tho ono which will go to the coast for ten das of final training heforo the season sea-son opens. Cooley wires to tho effect thnt tho coast trip should help his men a whole lot In their efforts to get into condition for the Union association season. uu REPUBLICAN CALL At a meeting of tho executive committee com-mittee of the Republican stato committee com-mittee yesterday, It was decided to call a meeting of the state committee on April 5 at 10 o'clock In tho morning morn-ing in the office of Governor "William Spry, at which time the call for tho delegate couventioa will be issued and the date set. Stato Chairman C. E Loose of Provo Pro-vo presided at the meeting yesterday. yester-day. The secretary of tho committee, commit-tee, H. L. Cummings, will issue tho , call for the state committee at once. The call will bring together in Salt Lake a representative from each county of the state. The April meeting will he the preliminary pre-liminary move for tho assembling of a state-wide convention, at which will be named delegates to the national nation-al Republican convention in Juno at Chicago. The state convention heretofore here-tofore has named six delegates, but an effort will be made this time to send eight, owing to the added representation rep-resentation this state will have in Congress next fall. |
