Show NATIONAL GUARD URGE ffl BASIS WASHINGTON, Jan. 12. Militia officers of-ficers from various parts of the United Unit-ed States appeared before the house committee on militia today to advocate advo-cate tho adoption of tho Steenerson bill, putting the national guard on a pay 'basis. Officers of the ragulararmy and the national guard believe that the regular payment of a small compensation compensa-tion to members of the guard who reach a certain standard of efficiency will greatly strengthen the militia as a support to the regular army. The proposed bill would represent an annual an-nual expenditure on salaries of from $4,000,000 to $S.000,000. |
