Show PLEAS TO HALT POLITICAL FEUD D13S MOINES. la.. Jan. 12 Governor Gov-ernor Carroll, In his Inaugural to the Iowa general assembly today made a plea for fhe cessation of political and factional feuds in Iowa, declaring they had had an unwholesomo effect on tho state. "While these things may not hae driven any one from among us." said the gocmor. "I do not apprehend that they have in any way encouraged people peo-ple to locate here There is evidence on every hand, and from almost every county that these blttor factional alignments have had their Influence on business conditions of the various communities. Nothing hotter could come to our state than there should be an end of these matters. "Give tho business of tho state precedence over tho ambitions of men aud let the people Join in a united effort ef-fort to promote the material welfare of the commonwealth." Governor Carroll endorsed the suggestion sug-gestion of President Taft that Iowa halt in Its efforts to legislate long enough to secure compliance with the laws already enacted, so that ""it might bo known just what additional legislation was needed. The governor's address dealt principally prin-cipally with tho growth and development develop-ment of the state and questions relating relat-ing to tho doings and actions of the people as a whole |
