OCR Text	Show yj 0 SPEED PREPARATIONS THE following was written by an American volunteer serving with a French artillery regiment: "Isn't America more interested in turning out a swell fire brigade than in putting out the fire ? And -the fire is raging, believe me. And aren't we also making the fatal mistake of planning for a three-years' war, just like the English? The French have already borne the brunt of the fighting for three years. They can't keep it up for six. 'Speed, speed, speed: that should be our motto back home, and death to political prejudices and fads.' ' V
