Show WOMEN ARE EAGER TO SERVE - Mrs. Frank A. Vanderlip, wife of the president Of the National City Bank in New York, has been extremely ex-tremely active in war relief work, both as a worker herself and as a director of the thousand and one new occupations that are open to women at this time. Writing in the September issue of Harper's Bazar, now ready, Mrs. Vanderlip makes this 'statement: "Women are eager to serve. They have always served at home. Now our -government needs their work outside their homes. They will be ready for every sacrifice. I believe that the idea of democracy with its promise of opportunity for every child, is a clear and definite belief in the minds of women, and that we are ready to give to our utmost to create a world democracy." Among the great things done by women thus far, Mrs. Vanderlip menr tions the development of the Red Cross, the increase and conservation of the food supply, the taking of the military , census, of resources, and helping to raise our recent Liberty Loan. |
