Show ROOSEVELT PRAISES SOLDIERS' INSURANCE PLAN "T have read the bill for compensat-J- ing and insuring the soldiers and sailors with the keenest interest," Colonel Col-onel Roosevelt wrote. "It marks a great step forward. It puts the United States where it ought.to be, as standing in the forefront among the nations in doing justice to our defenders. "The bill is a real and constructive , measure. I believe it should be passed and should go into effect when the first men of the new national army are called out. I know of nothing more important im-portant than to lift the fears of men that their families may become subjects sub-jects of charity, and to hearten the wives and children and parents of this country to respond bravely and gladly to the nation's call." n |
