Show WE ARE NOT ALONE IN discussing road conditions with the members of the State Press Association Associa-tion while on the trip to Little Zion Canyon last Saturday and Sunday we found that Beaver county is not alone in her dissatisfaction with the present system of road control and the lack of road service. From one end of the State to the other there is complaint regarding regard-ing the way the Salt Lake road commission commis-sion mismanages the road funds and the road work. Regardless of State Auditor Ririe's statement that we "have nothing of which to complain" there is complaint from every quarter. While the State Auditor fears that if the County Commissioners had the funds to use for building roads in their respective counties they might build roads near their own homes, we are informed in-formed that Mr. Ririe is now using the State funds for the purpose of building a good road alongside his own dairy or creamery property. And we have no complaint to make at that. But we do believe that the County Commissioners would come very much nearer getting the road work needed in their communities commun-ities throughout the State completed and in service at the right time than any three men in Salt Lake City can possibly do it. When only one member of the three is a practical road man we are sure that the County Commissioners Commission-ers could beat them to a frazzle in securing se-curing efficient, practical road work where it is most needed. n |
