Show NEW ALCXITE PLANT CLOSE TO MARVSVALE A new mining camp to be known as Pittsburg, Utah, is being founded" in Sevier, canyon, about five miles this side of Marysvale," says the Piute Chieftain. The Pittsburg Pot-, ash Mining company is opening up large deposits of alunite and a big mill is to be erected at once. For months a force of twenty-five men has been at work blocking out ore and preparing the ground for extensive exten-sive operations. The millsite is in the canyon close to the railroad track, and a station named Pittsburg will be instituted. Oscar Allred of Salina has secured the boarding house concessions and will maintain a first class place for the workmen. The force will be increased in-creased to fifty or more men. The boarding house and other buildings are ideally situated in a beautiful grove of trees at the mouth of Deer creek and there are excellent meadow mead-ow surroundings with grand old mountains for a background. Most of the mill machinery is now on the grounds, and the erection of suitable buildings and the installation installa-tion of machinery is being rushed. The mill will be in operation and potash and other products will be on the market before snow flies. Jim Long, one of the oldest and most experienced mining men of the Marysvale district, is in charge of the operations. The stockholders of the company are all men of means of Pittsburg. Pa., and the project is one of the most important yet launched in this district. Ex. |
