Show j Fatal Gas 'killed by an explosion An accident occurred last Monday afternoon about four o'clock in the Salt Lake Route yards which caused the death of a young workman. Carl Anderson, a young man in the employ of the water service, was repairing an old tank. There had been nothing in the tank' for months, it is claimed. Previously it had contained con-tained gasoline or some other oil product. Anderson was using the soldering iron on the tank when there was a terrific explosion. A Japanese Jap-anese who was sitting near was thrown 'across the yard against a fence but was uninjured. The force of the explosion shattered one leg of Carl Anderson and severely bruised him on one entire side. He was rushed to the office of the Salt Lake Route physician and there given first aid and prepared for the trip to the Salt Lake Hospital. With the assistance as-sistance of a trained nurse the young man was made as comfortable as possible. He was placed on board No. 8 in the evening, but died before reaching the city. It is thought that he had been injured internally. , A |
