Show NELS DARLING A CONTRIBUTOR TO THIS PAPER The News is fortunate in securing j the promise from Hon. Nels Darling. : who so ably lectured at the high school Monday evening, of a series of twenty-five articles touching the problems of the small town, which articles we hope to .have for publication publica-tion within a short time. The matters touched upon will include in-clude "Talks with the Business Man" and "The Home Town;" also "Talks on Advertising" and "The Community Club." At first thought some of our rural readers may think "What interest have we in these subjects? We are farmers, not business men; we live in the country; therefore are not concerned about "The Home Town;" we do not advertise and so what do we care about these "Talks on Advertising"? Ad-vertising"? The farmer or professional man that does not include himself with the advertisers,: the business man and home town builder is not doing himself justice. We are all business men whether we sell our labor, our brains, the product of our soil or our factories, or merely handle the things produced by the other fellow. If you are going to have an ice cream sociable it is a good thing to know how to tell about it. If you wish to sell your farm, your stock or your household goods, advertising will do it for you. Advertising has been a great aid in advancing civilization. It brings the millions into touch with the markets of the world. People read the advertising that is attractive and that tells something. Make your advertising the kind that people will read. Darling knows how to write the pulling, get-the-business, effective advertisement. He knows how and he knows how to tell others. Darline writes a good deal as he talks. He uses the short arm jab and lands with a punch. He rings the bell every time he takes a shot. |
