Show STILL MUST GUARD CITY WATER With the intense heat of the past few days, the occasional occas-ional threatening storm clouds have only added to the oppressiveness op-pressiveness of the weather. The heat has been found usually usu-ally to be at its greatest, according to thermometers, late in the afternoon. Because of -this,", many Milford people have found the best solution to their .'problem- of combating extra warm weather to lie in beginning work at about six in the morning, or else getting in hours of work late in the . evening, and taking it easy during the late afternoon. Farmers are again wanting such a shower as- fell a . couple of weeks ago, as the second crops of hay need it badly. Grain is in good shape, with most of the cutting-started. cutting-started. Speaking of the need of water, the town board was quite happy last week in commenting on how the townsfolk were aiding them in the careful use of city water. There is enough for ordinary needs, providing there is no misuse. There is still room for improvement in some quarters where wasting has still been noted, but Watermaster Kronholm states that the people in general are co-operating with him. A few days ago, more water was being poured over the lawns that the city pump could keep up with. If the improvement is maintained through the balance of the summer it is not believed that it will be found necessary to institute regular hours for the use of water on lawns. |
