Show Come to think of it, 'Fair Booster's' letter could have been answered in the last issue of this paper, for it simmers down to the fact that we printed all the data about the fair that was available. Possibly, Fair Booster, you missed some of our issues. Way back in July, we went over to Beaver and interviewed two of the committeemen of the fair association. as-sociation. We got all the information available at that time, and published it. We stated to them that it was our hope to make the fair truly a county activity and expressed our readiness to print all legitimate news about the fair that came to our attention. The committee in charge gave us no more information relative to the program. And sixty-four sixty-four miles is just too far to drive very often to solicit the opportunity of running free publicity. You seem to confuse, Fair Booster, the meaning of advertising and publicity, in the accepted use of the words in the newspaper world. The Beaver Press was right on the job in boosting the event. But isn't the Rodeo a little more-of a Beaver event than one of a county-wide nature? We are always willing to go just a little more than halfway half-way in the matter of co-operation. By that, we do not mean cutting our advertising rates half price. But in the case of our own South Milford Fair, the committee appropriated ten dollars for advertising. Not much to be sure, in comparison com-parison to the $G50 appropriation of the county towards our county fair expenses. Eut of Course we took the ten spot inasmuch in-asmuch as we are not in the business for our health. And then the South Milford committee brought in to us from week to week news atfout their plans, which undoubtedly " "benefited them to have published. We were glad to be of service to them and sought the same opportunity with our county fair association. |
