Show ' OFFER OF GRAVEL IS MADE TO CITY TOWN BOARD IS THOUGHT TO HAVE REJECTED GIFT Twenty-seven met at the weekly j luncheon of the Lions club this Wed-nesday Wed-nesday at the Milford Hotel. Guests present were J. M. Hughes, Inspector Wilson, Mr- Richardson. Speakers were Hughes, Richardson, Fourier, Carlton, and others. Dr. Parrish asked that someway be devised to grade, gravel and oil the side streets, so much in use now with Main street closed. Arch James offered of-fered to the town five carloads of gravel he had left over on the paving job, for the cost of the freight, together to-gether with the use of his trucks. It was suggested that the waste oil which is bm-ned up at the shops, be utilized for the streets. The Lions club thanked Mr. James for his offer. of-fer. From what can be gathered later, we judge that the town hoard will not accept Mr. James' offer as the gravel is believed to be too heavy and with no binding material in it. It was thought that gravel could be secured from nearby pits at as small a cost. High school faculty members were invited to attend the Lions club luncheons lunch-eons and to participate in the latter's activities. Matters of education, paving and lights were hashed over before the meting adjourned at one o'clock. |
