Show Joseph V. Decker 80, succumbs, service on Tuesday Joseph Victor Decker, 80 a lifelong resident of Parowan, died early Sunday morning In a Kanab rest home from ailments ail-ments incident to age. He had been in poor health, for many years and had been cared for in Kanab for several months. Funeral services were held for him Tuesday afternoon In the Third Ward chapel with Bishop Hyatt Bentley conduct-lng. conduct-lng. Ola Robinson was at the organ for prelude and post-lude post-lude music. The family prayer was offered of-fered by Bud Orton. The invocation in-vocation was by Milton Hu-let; Hu-let; the benediction was by Warren A. Dalton and the grave In the Parowan City cemetery was dedicated by Richard Benson. A tribute to the deceased was given by LaMar Jensen, and Clair Hulet was the speaker followed by remarks by Bishop Bentley. Musical numbers were two vocal solos, the first "Hold .Thou, My T Hand", . by Riane Decker, a granddaughter,; and "Lay" 'My Head Beneath the Rose" by Vcrl E. Taylor. Both were accompanied by Itha Mortensen. Pallbearers were Ronald, Garth, Kenneth, Tom and Howard Decker, Jr. and John Hortan. Flowers were carried by granddaughters.. The deceased was born in Parowan June 2, 1892, a son of Joseph Oscar and Annie Jensen Decker. He had engaged en-gaged in farming and livestock live-stock raising most of his life except for the last few years when he worked in construction. construc-tion. He married LaReta Mortensen Morten-sen April 16, 1912, and their marriage was solenmnized in the St. George Temple. She died in 1915 and he married Vera Wood on April 3, 1919 in the Temple. She and the following fol-lowing children survive: Frank, Mrs. Ellis (Carol) Carter, Parowan; Joseph Howard, How-ard, Lancaster, Calif.; Willard W., Page, Ariz.; Mrs. Ronald (Retta) Waters, Las Vegas; Mrs. Bob (Sylvia) LaBlanc, Heber, Ariz.; Mrs. Eugene (June) Parkinson, Oak Harbor, Wash; a stepson, DeVcre Wood, Ventura, Calif. Also surviving are 41 grandchildren grand-children and 27 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: ; Neils, Mrs. Richard (Pearl) Benson, Marie D. Orton, Rula D. Orton, Mrs. Richard (Jetta) Rowley, all of Parowan; Dwa-ine, Dwa-ine, Fairview, Sanpete County; Coun-ty; Mrs. Lance (Delia) Hyatt, Gunnison; Mrs. Ivie Christen -sen, Poeatello; Mrs. Ona Brad-shaw, Brad-shaw, Caliente, Nev. and Mrs. Duard (Arthella) Evans, Mil-ford. |
