LaVerne proved to be an easy foe as the T-Birds won 92-59 on Friday and then came back for a 74-63 victory on Saturday. In Friday's contest all five Southern Utah starters scored in double figures, led by Gary Crosby with 18. Hal Hamblin and Chuck Anderson paced the T-Birds Saturday. The visiting Leopards were missing two key players, who missed the trip because of eligibility el-igibility problems. The . T-Birds finished the non-conference season with a 7-4 mark. For the first time since the beginning of the season, Soi'i.hern Utah State College will tako a healthy team on the road. This road trip to Colorado will mean do-or-die if the T-Birds are going to have any chance for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference title. Saturday night the Cedar City crew will be in Sunnison Colorado to take on Western State, a team they defeated 101-85 in the second conference confer-ence game. The Mountaineers are paced by 511 guard Kent Peterson. Thursday the Southern Utah team will visit Fort Lewis, a team they demolished 92-65 in the opening conference match. Benji Gadsen, a 6-4 forward leads the Raiders. In last week's contest Southern South-ern Utah ran their season mark to 12 8 by defeating Westminster, and non-confer-ence foe LaVerne twice. |
