Show Top teams tumble in Little League action Arctic Circle 9 3 Jaycees 8 4 Lions 7 5 Ron's.... 4 7 Elks....! 6 6 Jones Motor l io Jaycees took a notch out of the sales of the league leading Arctic Circle early in last week actions then turned around and slipped themselves as Ron's Sporting Goods came on strong to deck the Jaycees. Only team without a loss during the week was Elks who scored a 17-13 win over Ron's. In that battle Elks went out strong scoring seven runs in the third and seven in the fourth to take a 17-5 advantage. Ron's came storming back to push in eight run.' in the last inning on just two hits, but it was not enough. Giles, Peck and Holmes hurled for Elks while Neilson and Bauer saw mound duty for Ron's. But it was Ron's who came up with the biggest win of the week when they scored a 14-1 victory over Jaycees. In that contest Neilson was the big gun. After a 19-8 victory over Lions in an extra inning affair. Arctic Circle held a 6-0 lead at the end of the fifth then pushed in two in the top of the sixth to lead 8-0. Lions, after five scoreless innings belted five hits and pushed in eight runs to tie the game forcing it into an extra inning. Five of the eight runs came after two men were away. In the extra inning Arctic put on their hitting shoes again with nine hits, eight singles and a triple by Stephenson scoring 11 runs then held Lions without a tally in the bottom of the frame. In other action Lions, behind the pitching of Wood and Stevens downed Jones Motor 15-6 with Rhodes going the distance for the losers. Lions pushed in eight big runs on seven hits including three doubles in the third inning then coasted to the victory. Elks scored their second win of the week when they downed Jones Motor 15 to 5. Giles and Peck were on the mound with Bohn and Baggs hurling for Jones Motor. Elks had a big second frame with seven runs on four hits. allowing two hits in the first run to account for the Elks run, he promptly struck out nine men in a row. In addition he belted a home run, triple and double in the contest. Also homering for Ron's and sharing mound duty was Jones. Jaycee's big win of the week was a 11-6 victory over Arctic Circle, a win that briefly tied them for the league lead. In that contest Lunt, Gubler and Laird all saw mound duty for the winners with Isaacson and Soderquist hurling for Arctic. Jaycees pushed in four runs in the second and moved to a 7-1 lead at the end of the fourth. In the top of the fifth they pushed in three more runs to push their lead to a 10-1. In the bottom of the fifth Arctic Circle came bouncing back with five runs on three hits including a homer by Stephenson, Stephen-son, but the surge fell short.
